HAVE ORDERED 3 PAIRS OF THESE FROM AMAZON.
Roomy toe box. Nice fit.One of the only places I can find the narrow walking shoes my long slender feet require!!Extra comfortable. Just put ‘em on and plan to wear them the rest of the day.Can’t say enough nice things about New Balance walking shoes!

Great shoes for feet & low back pain
I love these. Im a 9.5 wide they fit great. Im a massage therapist so im on my feet all day. I have mortons neuroma which flares up when wearing wrong shoe. My ankle slightly pronates, but because im on my feet so much my body tries to correct that by leaning on the outer part of my foot. So it looks like i supinate but im just compensating. Creating issues woth my hips too. Ive tried hokas & sketchers among many others, they dont work for me. They are great at first, but once broken in my low back/feet starts to hurt. I do not like foam based shoes at all. I understand the approach, but they dont work for everyone. For some of us, foam actually makes our problems worse because theirs no real support. The foam is just absorbing the shock when we walk. The sole of my shoes have to be made of rubber and you cannot bend them in half. They have to create structure and support. They have to have a wide toe box so my toes arent smooshed together creating more problems. I only trust certain types of new balance shoes. Be careful new balance also creates foam based shoes, if you dont want the foam either.

Sizing may be off
I have three versions of the 990’s Thought i would try these 557’s for yard work because they are cheaper than 990’s and all leather so may be easier to clean. Ordered my regular size and put them on to walk around the house – within 30 minutes one foot was hurting. I requested to exchange the regular width for a wide. The wider pair was received the next day and fit better. They shoes seem to require some breaking in as they are making creaking noises but i am keeping them and will wear them for a couple of hours a day until they are quiet. Support seems decent – i like that they are all black and no suede or fabric on uppers (for yard work). Cannot attest to durability as i have not had them long enough. Can say my older 990 is 8 years old still feels great – but are hard to keep clean that’s days. Think it probable that all NB shoes are durable but if anything happens to this 577 in the next couple of years i will report back.

I sounded like a walking squeaky toy every time I wore them until I got fed up and returned them.
If I was in a horror movie, I’d be the first one taken out—because of the squeak of these shoes. These things squeak with every step like I’m a mouse yelling at someone for stealing my cheese.I’ve been loyal to New Balance for over 20 years, and honestly, I expected better. Yeah, I get it. These are leather, so they need some breaking in. But two weeks of 8+ hour shifts and I’m still announcing my presence with every step like I’m walking on a squeaky toy? What is happening??Now, comfort-wise—they’re not bad. A bit warm (thanks to the leather), but not uncomfortable. Still, I had to return them. I won’t be alerting every person in my general area that I’m here with every step I take. I work in an office, not a cartoon chase scene.

In what world are these “extra wide”?
Let me start by saying the shoes are comfortable enough. If you are used to wearing standard sneakers and have normal sized feet, you’ll probably think these are great. The sole is comfortable (at least so far) and the toe box is roomier than average.For me personally, they’re a little snug. I wore “barefoot” shoes for about a year. And while the cushion-less soles eventually wreaked havoc on my knees and sciatica, I got accustomed to being able to spread my toes out when I walked. As a result, regular sneakers cause me no end of troubles with my toes, including rubbing my pinky toe raw because it can no longer handle rubbing up against the interior of the shoe all day. I’ve gone through a number of brands, including comfort heavyweights like Skechers and Dr. Scholl’s, to no avail.I ordered these in extra wide, thinking for sure that would provide me enough room in the toe box to mitigate the rubbing. If these are “extra wide” I’d hate to see what the narrow looks like! These fit more in line with what I’d expect from a normal wide in other brands.They’re extremely tight on the tops of my feet and despite having a roomier toe box than other brands still squeeze my toes more than I would like.I’m hoping they just need to be broken in. They still fit slightly better than others I’ve tried, and the toe box is definitely better than other brands which come to more of a point. I also appreciate that the upper portion of the shoe being 100% leather which will hopefully soften with time so they don’t feel as constricting. If there’s any change in fit after wearing them for a while, I will edit my review accordingly.

Not new balance
It’s not a good fit. Caused me to wear an ankle brace. Left shoe not the same as right. Caused pain . I’ve order the shoe before, this was not the same shoe.
